GABBR2는 G-단백질 결합 수용체 3 패밀리 및 GABA-B 수용체 서브패밀리에 속하는 다중 통과 막 단백질입니다. GABA-B 수용체는 G 단백질 결합 세컨드 메신저 시스템을 통해 신경 활동을 억제하며, 이는 신경전달물질의 방출, 이온 채널 및 아데닐산 사이클라아제의 활성을 조절합니다. 이 수용체 서브유닛은 GABA-B receptor subunit 1과 활성 헤테로다이머 복합체를 형성하며, 단독으로는 활성화되지 않습니다. 이 유전자의 대립유전자 변이는 니코틴 의존성과 관련이 있습니다.
