This antibody has specificity for Mouse FGFR3.
Target Information
FGFR3 is a member of the FGFR family of receptor tyrosine kinases. This family regulates various cellular functions including angiogenesis, mitogenesis, osteogenesis, myogenesis, carcinogenesis, cellular differentiation, and tissue repair after injury. FGFR family members differ in ligand affinities and tissue distribution.
A full-length FGFR3 protein consists of:
- Extracellular region with three immunoglobulin-like domains
- Single hydrophobic membrane-spanning segment
- Cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase domain
The extracellular portion interacts with fibroblast growth factors, triggering downstream signaling that influences mitogenesis and differentiation. FGFR3 plays a role in bone development and maintenance. Mutations in FGFR3 are associated with craniosynostosis and various skeletal dysplasias. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
