Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of Dynamin 1 only when phosphorylated at Serine 774.

Target Information

Dynamin is a GTPase required for endocytosis of clathrin-coated vesicles from the membrane. Its role in endocytosis was first identified through studies of the temperature-sensitive shibire mutation in Drosophila melanogaster.
In mammals, three closely related isoforms exist:

  • Dynamin 1: Expressed exclusively in neurons
  • Dynamin 2: Ubiquitously expressed
  • Dynamin 3: Expressed primarily in the testes

Each isoform has multiple splice variants that may function in distinct vesicle budding processes. Dynamin proteins share common domains: an N-terminal GTPase domain, a central pleckstrin homology domain, and a proline-rich C-terminal region containing SH3 domains that target the protein to clathrin-coated pits. Dynamin interacts with proteins such as the AP2 adaptor complex and amphiphysin.
