Product Specific Information
The G8.8 monoclonal antibody reacts with the 40 kDa protein mouse EpCAM (epithelial cellular adhesion molecule), also known as EGP40, 17-1A antigen, TACSTD1, and CD326. The immunogen used was the TE-71 thymic epithelial cell line. CD326 is expressed on most epithelial cells and is considered a pan-carcinoma antigen mediating calcium-independent, homophilic cell-cell adhesion and possibly acting as a growth factor receptor.

Applications Tested: Validated by flow cytometric analysis of TE-71 cells at ≤0.5 µg/test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody staining a cell sample in 100 µL volume.
Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Optimal titration recommended for best assay performance.

Target Information
Ep-CAM (epithelial adhesion molecule, ESA) is a transmembrane glycoprotein (~40 kDa) expressed in epithelial tissues. It functions as a calcium-independent adhesion molecule influencing cell cycle, proliferation, and metabolism via c-myc and cyclin A/E regulation. Ep-CAM overexpression correlates with enhanced epithelial proliferation and carcinoma marker expression. It is localized on the basolateral surface of most simple epithelia and distinguishes adenocarcinomas from pleural mesotheliomas.
