Target Information
Lin28 is a transcription factor initially identified for its role in developmental timing in C. elegans. It is involved in stem cell generation and maintenance. Expression of Lin28, along with transcription factors POU5F1, Sox2, and NANOG, can induce pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from mouse fibroblasts. More recent studies have shown that iPS cells can be generated using plasmid-based expression of Lin28, Sox2, POU5F1, and c-Myc, avoiding viral introduction and improving safety for potential regenerative medicine applications.
