Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 계열에 속하며, 중추신경계의 성상세포와 특정 astroglia에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 말초신경계의 위성세포 및 비수초화 슈반세포에서도 발현됩니다. 신경줄기세포에서도 GFAP가 강하게 발현되며, 성상세포 마커로 널리 사용됩니다. 다양한 뇌종양에서 GFAP가 과발현되며, 렌즈상피, 간 Kupffer 세포, 침샘 종양 세포 및 적혈구에서도 보고된 바 있습니다. GFAP는 발달 과정에서 성상세포를 다른 교세포와 구분하는 마커로 사용됩니다. GFAP 유전자의 돌연변이는 희귀한 성상세포 질환인 Alexander 병을 유발하며, 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 여러 isoform을 생성합니다.
