Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 클래스 III 중간 필라멘트 단백질 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 주로 중추신경계의 성상세포 및 일부 말초신경의 비수초성 슈반세포에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 신경줄기세포에서도 GFAP이 강하게 발현되며, 성상세포를 다른 교세포와 구별하는 마커로 널리 사용됩니다. 여러 종류의 뇌종양에서도 GFAP이 높게 발현되며, 수정체 상피, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 일부 타액선 종양 세포 및 적혈구에서도 보고된 바 있습니다. GFAP 유전자의 돌연변이는 Alexander 병을 유발할 수 있으며, 대체 스플라이싱을 통해 다양한 아이소폼을 생성합니다.
