Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 계열에 속하며, 주로 중추신경계의 성상세포 및 특정 교세포에서 발현됩니다. 또한 말초신경의 위성세포와 비수초성 슈반세포에서도 발견됩니다. 신경줄기세포는 GFAP을 강하게 발현하며, GFAP 항체는 성상세포 표지자로 널리 사용됩니다.
여러 종류의 뇌종양(성상세포 유래)은 GFAP을 강하게 발현하며, 그 외에도 수정체 상피, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 일부 타액선 종양 세포, 적혈구 등에서도 보고되었습니다. GFAP은 발달 중 성상세포와 다른 교세포를 구별하는 마커로 사용되며, GFAP 유전자 변이는 희귀한 성상세포 질환인 Alexander disease를 유발합니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 여러 전사 변이체가 존재합니다.
