EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor)는 다양한 성장 인자에 반응하여 신호를 전달하는 수용체 티로신 키나아제입니다. 과발현은 여러 종류의 암과 관련이 있으며, EGFR은 생물학적 제제 및 저분자 치료제의 표적입니다. EGFR 유전자는 인간의 염색체 7번에 위치하며, HER/ERbB 단백질 패밀리(ERbB2, ERbB3, ERbB4 포함)에 속합니다. EGF 및 TGF-α 등의 리간드 결합 시 EGFR은 이합체화되어 세포질 도메인 내 티로신 잔기의 자가 인산화가 일어납니다. 과발현은 두경부, 뇌, 방광, 위, 유방, 폐, 자궁내막, 자궁경부, 외음부, 난소, 식도, 위, 편평세포암 등 다양한 종양에서 관찰됩니다.
