Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F-box.
F-box proteins are part of the SCF ubiquitin ligase complex (SKP1-cullin-F-box), functioning in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
They are divided into three classes:
- Fbws: Contain WD-40 domains
- Fbls: Contain leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs: Contain various protein-protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
The FBXO8 protein belongs to the Fbxs class and contains a C-terminal region similar to yeast Sec7p, a regulator of vesicular protein transport.
It may interact with ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs) and exhibit ARF-GEF (guanine nucleotide exchange factor) activity.
