Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F-box. F-box proteins form part of the ubiquitin protein ligase complex (SCFs: SKP1-cullin-F-box), which functions in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are divided into three classes:
- Fbws containing WD-40 domains
- Fbls containing leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs containing various interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the Fbxs class and includes a C-terminal sequence similar to yeast Sec7p, a regulator of vesicular protein transport. It may interact with ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs) and exhibit ARF-GEF activity.
