FBXO8 유전자는 F-box 단백질 패밀리에 속하며, 약 40개의 아미노산으로 구성된 F-box 모티프를 포함합니다.
F-box 단백질은 SCF(SKP1-cullin-F-box) 복합체의 서브유닛으로, 인산화 의존적 유비퀴틴화 과정에 관여합니다.
세 가지 클래스로 구분되며, FBXO8은 Fbxs 클래스에 속합니다.
이 단백질은 효모 Sec7p와 유사한 C-말단 서열을 포함하며, ARF(ADP-ribosylation factor)와 상호작용하여 ARF-GEF(guanine nucleotide exchange factor) 활성을 나타낼 수 있습니다.
