CD36 (scavenger receptor class B member 3)는 대식세포, 혈소판, 지방세포 등 다양한 세포 표면에서 발현되는 단백질로, 지질 대사, 염증, 죽상동맥경화 등과 관련된 기능을 가집니다.
이 단백질은 산화된 LDL, 장쇄 지방산, 세포사멸 세포 등의 리간드를 인식하고 섭취하는 역할을 하며, 혈소판의 thrombospondin 수용체로 작용합니다. 또한, Plasmodium falciparum 감염 적혈구의 부착에도 관여합니다.
CD36 유전자의 돌연변이는 혈소판 당단백 결핍 및 관상동맥 질환과 연관되어 있으며, 다양한 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되어 있습니다.
