Product Specific Information
For FACS analysis, use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10^6 cells in 100 µL.
Mouse anti-Human CD44 antibody, clone 5035-41.1D recognizes human CD44, also known as Lymphocyte antigen 24, Extracellular matrix receptor III, GP90 lymphocyte homing/adhesion receptor, HUTCH-I, Phagocytic glycoprotein I (PGP-1), Hermes antigen, or Hyaluronate receptor.
Target Information
CD44 cell surface antigen is a 100 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein widely expressed on human leukocytes, white matter of the brain, and some epithelial cells of the intestine and breast.
Several isoforms of CD44 exist, including the predominant CD44H isoform detected in many normal tissues. CD44 acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and participates in cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration. It also plays roles in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing.
CD44 expression may be up-regulated in certain carcinomas, potentially related to metastatic potential. It is expressed by hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, epithelial tissues, and filopodia in cultured keratinocytes. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells express CD44 at high levels, and peripheral B and T cells can upregulate CD44 in response to stimulation.
Transcripts of the CD44 gene undergo complex alternative splicing, creating many functionally distinct isoforms. Diseases associated with CD44 dysfunction include superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus, and it may be linked to tumor metastasis formation.
