Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes mouse and rat CD90, a monomorphic determinant in rat but polymorphic in mice.
Clone T11D7e reacts with Thy1.1 mice (e.g., AKR and FVB strains), but not Thy1.2 mice such as CBA and BALB/c.
It is useful for removal of T lymphocytes from cell populations by complement-mediated cytotoxicity.
Target Information
CD90 (Thy1) antigen is a GPI-linked glycoprotein and a member of the Immunoglobulin superfamily.
It is expressed in murine T cells, thymocytes, neural cells, Kupffer's cells, and fibroblasts.
CD90 may play roles in cell-cell or cell-ligand interactions during synaptogenesis and other neural events.
It serves as a marker for various stem cells and axonal processes of mature neurons.
Structural studies of CD90 contributed to the foundation of the Immunoglobulin superfamily and the first biochemical characterization of a vertebrate GPI anchor.
Diseases associated with CD90 dysfunction include nasopharyngeal carcinoma and thymoma.
