Target Information
The GLP2 receptor (GLP2R) is a G protein-coupled receptor closely related to the glucagon and GLP1 receptors. GLP2 is a 33-amino acid peptide produced by intestinal enteroendocrine cells, derived from the proglucagon peptide encoded by the GCG gene.
GLP2 stimulates intestinal growth, increases villus height, promotes crypt cell proliferation, and reduces enterocyte apoptosis. It also prevents intestinal hypoplasia caused by total parenteral nutrition.
GLP2R is expressed in the gut and belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, similar to GCGR and GLP1R.
