- Mouse anti-Human CD117 antibody (clone 104D2) recognizes the human CD117 cell surface antigen (c-Kit), a 145 kDa glycoprotein.
Target Information
KIT (c-KIT) is a proto-oncogene encoding a type III transmembrane receptor for mast cell growth factor (MGF, also known as stem cell factor, SCF).
KIT regulates the growth and activation of various hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells.
Mutations in KIT are associated with:
- Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST)
- Mast cell disease
- Acute myelogenous leukemia
- Piebaldism
Activation of c-Kit by SCF induces receptor dimerization and autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues (e.g., Tyr703), enabling docking of Grb2 and activation of the Ras/ERK signaling pathway.
SCF/c-Kit also activates PI3K, PLC-γ, and JAK/STAT pathways, which are essential for hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, and gametogenesis.
