Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the human CD89 cell surface antigen, a 50–75 kDa glycoprotein also known as the IgA receptor (Fc alpha R). CD89 is expressed by peripheral blood monocytes and neutrophils. MIP8a blocks binding of IgA to Fc alpha R and inhibits neutrophil phagocytosis of IgA complexes.

Target Information
The CD89 gene encodes a receptor for the Fc region of IgA and belongs to the immunoglobulin gene superfamily. This transmembrane glycoprotein is expressed on myeloid lineage cells such as neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, and eosinophils. It mediates immune responses to pathogens by interacting with IgA-opsonized targets, triggering phagocytosis, antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity, and inflammatory mediator release. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
