Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes a 150 kDa cell surface antigen known as alpha-3 integrin (VLA-3). CD49c is weakly expressed on peripheral blood leukocytes and absent from platelets, while epithelial and endothelial cells express significant levels.
Target Information
ITGA3 (Integrin alpha-3), also known as CD49C, VLA3, or GAPB3, is encoded by the ITGA3 gene located on chromosome 17q21.33. It forms the alpha3beta1 integrin complex involved in neural migration and corticogenesis. ITGA3 contains multiple N-glycosylation and cleavage sites and is expressed as a 150 kDa protein, consistent with the native form observed in western blot analysis. Expression of human ITGA3 enhances viral infectivity in certain cell models.
