Influenza A와 B는 인간에게 유행성 질환을 일으키는 두 가지 인플루엔자 바이러스 유형입니다. 현재 유행 중인 Influenza B 바이러스는 Victoria와 Yamagata 두 가지 항원적·유전적으로 구분되는 계통으로 나뉩니다. Influenza virus B는 Orthomyxoviridae 과에 속하는 바이러스이며, 숙주 범위가 제한되어 있어 팬데믹 발생은 드뭅니다. 핵단백질(nucleoprotein)은 음성 가닥 바이러스 RNA를 캡시드화하여 뉴클레이즈로부터 보호하며, 이를 포함한 RNA는 리보뉴클레오프로테인(RNP)이라 불리며 전사와 복제의 주형으로 작용합니다.
