Target Information
Steroidogenic factor-1 (SF-1) is an orphan nuclear receptor involved in organ development and differentiation of the endocrine system. It is essential for fetal development of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, gonads, and adrenal gland. SF-1 promotes transcriptional activity of steroidogenic enzymes from the cytochrome P450 family. It contains two activation function domains, AF1 and AF2, which facilitate interactions with other nuclear receptors and coactivators such as SRC-1, GRIP1, CREB binding protein (CBP), and SMRT.
