Target Information
GADD153 (also known as CHOP) is a small nuclear protein that dimerizes with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. The resulting complex inhibits normal C/EBP binding and function, while acquiring binding activity to non-classical, stress-related targets. Under normal conditions, CHOP expression is undetectable but becomes highly upregulated under cellular or ER stress such as tunicamycin treatment, nutrient starvation, or reducing agents affecting calcium flux across the ER membrane.
