Target Information
Collagen III is a fibrillar collagen found in extensible connective tissues such as skin, lung, and the vascular system, often in association with type I Collagen. Mutations in this gene are associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type IV and with aortic and arterial aneurysms. Alternate transcripts detected for this gene are typically the result of mutations that alter splicing and lead to exclusion of multiple exons.
