Target Information
The collapsin response mediator protein (CRMP) family (also known as ULIP6) consists of neurologic proteins involved in growth cone guidance during neural development.
CRMP5 shows low sequence homology with other CRMP members and is expressed in the developing nervous system, peaking during the first postnatal week.
Elevated autoantibody levels against CRMP5 are associated with paraneoplastic autoimmune optic neuritis and other paraneoplastic syndromes.
Auto-immunity against CRMP5 (particularly N-terminal epitopes) is being studied as a potential oncological marker in the respiratory system and thymus.
