Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a peroxidase family associated with cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx proteins (~20–30 kDa) are categorized into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys subgroups.
- Prx I, II, VI: Cytosolic
- Prx III: Mitochondrial
- Prx IV: ER and secreted
- Prx V: Distributed in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol
Except for Prx VI (1-Cys subgroup), the other 2-Cys Prx isotypes exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase activity utilizing thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH.
