Target Information
SRC is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase and proto-oncogene involved in the regulation of embryonic development and cell growth. It plays a key role in signal transduction, cytoskeletal organization, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis. In humans, SRC is encoded on chromosome 20. Its activity is regulated by phosphorylation at Tyr416 (activating) and Tyr527 (inhibitory). Mutations in SRC have been associated with malignant progression of colon cancer. Two transcript variants encoding the same SRC protein have been identified.
