Target Information
NF-kappa-B inhibitor-like protein 1 (NFKBIL1), also known as Ikb-like or IkbL1, is a 381 amino acid member of the inhibitor of NF-kappaB (IkappaB) family. NFKBIL1 contains two ANK repeats and is expressed in the rheumatoid synovial lining and sub-lining layers, co-localized in CD68+ and CD3+ cells but not in Factor VIII+ cells. Defects in NFKBIL1 expression are associated with susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a systemic inflammatory disease with autoimmune features affecting joints, characterized by inflammatory changes in synovial membranes and articular structures, fibrinoid degeneration of collagen fibers, and atrophy of bony structures.
