Target Information
The NOTCH4 gene encodes a member of the Notch family, which consists of Type I transmembrane proteins characterized by multiple epidermal growth factor-like (EGF) repeats in the extracellular domain and diverse domains in the intracellular region. These proteins regulate cell fate decisions during development. NOTCH4 is cleaved in the trans-Golgi network and appears on the cell surface as a heterodimer, functioning as a receptor for membrane-bound ligands. It may be involved in vascular, renal, and hepatic development, and has been associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia in some cases.
