Target Information
UBE2T is involved in the covalent conjugation of ubiquitin to proteins, regulating diverse cellular pathways and protein functions.
Ubiquitin is transferred to target proteins through the coordinated action of:
- Ubiquitin-activating enzyme (E1)
- Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (E2, such as UBE2T)
- Ubiquitin ligase (E3)
UBE2T catalyzes the covalent attachment of ubiquitin to protein substrates, participates in monoubiquitination, and plays a critical role in mitomycin-C (MMC)-induced DNA repair by monoubiquitinating FANCD2, a key step in the DNA damage response pathway.
Mutations in the UBE2T gene are associated with Fanconi anemia complementation group T.
