Product Specific Information

  • Tested in direct ELISA (use antibody at 2–4 µg/mL for coating).
  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris Buffer with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.

Target Information

Erythropoietin (EPO) is a growth factor essential for the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of erythroid precursors. It induces final maturation of erythroid cells and production of red cell-specific proteins such as hemoglobin. The EPO receptor (EPOR) is highly expressed on precursor cells and decreases with maturation.
In the fetus, hepatocytes are the main source of EPO, while in adults, interstitial kidney cells are predominant. EPO expression increases under hypoxic conditions and may also play roles in neuronal tissue protection and repair.
