This recombinant protein is suitable for use as a control in ELISA and Western blot applications.
Store lyophilized product desiccated at -20°C. Upon reconstitution, store at 4°C for 2–7 days or aliquot and store at -20°C. For long-term storage, add either HSA or BSA to 0.1%. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Reconstitute using distilled water to a concentration not less than 100 µg/mL.

Target Information

Human growth hormone (hGH) is a member of the somatotropin/prolactin family of hormones that play an important role in growth control. The GH1 gene, along with four additional related genes, is located at the growth hormone locus on chromosome 17. These genes share a high degree of sequence identity, and alternative splicing results in five isoforms ranging from approximately 19 kDa to 24 kDa.
HGH is produced by somatotroph cells in the pituitary gland and acts through membrane receptors belonging to the cytokine receptor subfamily. Its primary function in stimulating body growth involves promoting the liver and other tissues to secrete IGF-1. It stimulates differentiation and proliferation of myoblasts, as well as amino acid uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues.
Mutations or deletions in the GH1 gene can lead to growth hormone deficiency and short stature.
