Target Information
Both MIP-1α and MIP-1β are structurally and functionally related CC chemokines.
They participate in host response to invading bacterial, viral, parasite, and fungal pathogens by regulating the trafficking and activation of inflammatory cells such as macrophages, lymphocytes, and NK cells.
- MIP-1α selectively attracts CD8+ lymphocytes
- MIP-1β selectively attracts CD4+ lymphocytes
- Both are potent chemoattractants for B cells, eosinophils, and dendritic cells
- Active on both human and murine hematopoietic cells
