Target Information
p27 Kip1 is a critical regulator of cell cycle progression and a potent inhibitor of cyclin E- and cyclin A-CDK2 complexes. It forms complexes with cyclin D-CDK4 and modulates their activation depending on its phosphorylation state. The degradation of p27 Kip1, triggered by CDK-dependent phosphorylation and ubiquitination by SCF complexes, is essential for the transition from quiescence to the proliferative state. The molecular weight of p27 Kip1 is approximately 27 kDa.
