Target Information
Angiotensinogen (AGT) is a precursor protein expressed in the liver. It is cleaved by renin to form angiotensin I, which is further processed by angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) to produce angiotensin II, a key regulator of blood pressure. AGT is involved in essential hypertension and preeclampsia, and mutations are linked to renal tubular dysgenesis, atrial fibrillation, and inflammatory bowel disease.
