Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This affinity purified antibody is directed against the 6X HIS epitope tag and is useful in determining its presence in overexpressed proteins in various assays.
The antibody recognizes the 6X HIS epitope tag (His-His-His-His-His-His) fused to either the amino- or carboxy-termini of targeted proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). It is commonly expressed at either the N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins to allow isolation or purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
Epitope tagging enables detection of proteins for which no specific antibody is available. His-tagged proteins are purified using metal chelate chromatography due to the strong and selective affinity between histidine residues and Ni²⁺ ions on Ni²⁺-NTA adsorbents.
His tag-specific antibodies facilitate detection or co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
