Target Information
A-kinase anchoring proteins (AKAPs) are scaffolding proteins that bind regulatory subunits of Protein Kinase A (PKA), localizing PKA activity to distinct cellular regions.
AKAP5 (also known as P75, AKAP75, or AKAP79) is mainly expressed in neuronal tissues, anchoring type II PKA to post-synaptic densities and plasma membrane sites.
It interacts with calmodulin, PP2B, and calcineurin, suggesting a role in coordinating cAMP- and Ca²⁺-sensing pathways in various cell types.
