Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, and providing consistent lot-to-lot performance.

Functionally similar to polyclonal antibodies, they recognize multiple epitopes on the target, allowing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot has a defined mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability typical of polyclonal production.

Target Information

Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is an immunomodulatory cytokine essential for proliferation of activated T cells, differentiation of B cells, NK cells, monocytes, and macrophages. IL-2 signals through the IL-2 receptor (IL-2R), a heterotrimeric complex whose gamma chain is shared with IL-4 and IL-7.

Expression of the IL-2 gene in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, representing a unique regulatory mechanism. Disruption of IL-2-like genes in mice leads to ulcerative colitis-like disease, highlighting IL-2’s critical role in immune response regulation.
