Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with mouse based on sequence homology.

Recombinant rabbit polyclonal antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They combine multiple recombinant monoclonal antibodies, providing the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies. Each lot is produced with a defined mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability typically associated with traditional polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information

Leptin is a 167 amino acid protein hormone (~16 kDa) encoded by the obese (ob) gene. It plays a key role in regulating body weight, metabolism, and reproductive function.
Leptin is mainly secreted by adipocytes, reflecting body fat mass, and also by gastric epithelial and placental cells.
Leptin receptors are abundant in the hypothalamus, T lymphocytes, and vascular endothelial cells, mediating effects on appetite, energy expenditure, thermogenesis, and hormonal regulation.
Leptin influences hematopoiesis, angiogenesis, wound healing, inflammation, immune response, pubertal development, and fetal growth.
Defects in leptin production can cause severe hereditary obesity in rodents and humans.
