Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins.
The RPL9 gene encodes a ribosomal protein component of the 60S subunit, belonging to the L6P family. It is located in the cytoplasm. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
