This gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L24E family. It is located in the cytoplasm.
Although previously referred to as ribosomal protein L30 due to amino acid identity with S. cerevisiae L30 proteins, the official name is ribosomal protein L24.
Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
