Target Information
Kinesins are a superfamily of microtubule-associated motor proteins involved in various cellular processes, including organelle transport and cell division. Kinesin proteins are widely distributed across organisms and cell types and are regulated spatially and temporally. They possess a conserved motor domain (~350 amino acids) responsible for microtubule binding and ATP hydrolysis. Members of the Kinesin 5 family (A, B, and C) share common structural and functional characteristics. Kinesin 5A and 5C are predominantly neuronal, whereas Kinesin 5B is expressed ubiquitously.
