Target Information
MINA is a nuclear localized, myc-inducible protein involved in mammalian cell proliferation. Knockdown of MINA in cancer cell lines such as SW680 inhibits cell growth, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target.
It regulates genes associated with cell adhesion and metabolism that are modulated by c-Myc, as well as other genes such as EGFR, IL-6, and HGF.
MINA also acts as a repressor of IL-4 expression in T cells, indicating its role in T cell differentiation and genetic variation in T helper type 2 bias.
