Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65), encoded by the RELA gene on chromosome 11, is also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A). It belongs to the Rel family of proteins and forms heterodimers with NF-kB subunits p50 or p52.
Upon TNF alpha stimulation, IKK phosphorylates I kB, leading to its proteasomal degradation and activation of NF-kB. NF-kB p65 plays a key role in transcription of the immunoglobulin kappa gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
