Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes the extracellular domain (preferentially in native form) of glutamate carboxypeptidase II (NAALADase, FOLH1, PSMA), an approximately 95–110 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed mainly in tumor neovasculature, nervous system, and jejunum. It is an important prostate tumor marker.


Target Information

This gene encodes a type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the M28 peptidase family. The protein acts as a glutamate carboxypeptidase on substrates such as folate and N-acetyl-L-aspartyl-L-glutamate, and is expressed in tissues including prostate, central and peripheral nervous system, and kidney. Mutations may impair intestinal folate absorption, leading to hyperhomocysteinemia. In the prostate, expression is upregulated in cancerous cells, serving as a diagnostic and prognostic indicator for prostate cancer. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
