Product Specific Information
The OKT3 monoclonal antibody reacts with an epitope on the epsilon-subunit within the human CD3 complex. It exhibits potent immunosuppressive properties in vivo and has been proven effective in treating renal, heart, and liver allograft rejection.
CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon) are required for proper assembly, trafficking, and surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes and all mature T cells. Crosslinking of TCR initiates intracellular signaling leading to activation and proliferation. Clones OKT3 and SK7 recognize different epitopes.

Target Information
The CD3 complex transduces antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulates TCR surface expression. CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta) are structurally related members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on chromosome 11.
CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes, but not on B or NK cells. Defects in CD3 genes are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
