Target Information
Oncogene ERBB4 (HER4) is a member of the type I receptor protein tyrosine kinase family, including EGFR, ERBB2, and ERBB3. ERBB4 is activated by neuregulins and other ligands, inducing cellular responses such as mitogenesis and differentiation.
It mediates signal transduction related to metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
ERBB4 is predominantly expressed in breast carcinoma cell lines and in normal skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum. Expression levels vary across different breast tumor cell lines, with elevated levels found in certain human tumor cell lines, suggesting a potential role in malignancies.
