Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD26, a 110 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein. CD26 is a peptidase expressed on mature thymocytes, T cells (especially activated), B cells, NK cells, and macrophages.

Target Information

CD26 (dipeptidyl peptidase IV, DPP IV; adenosine deaminase binding protein) is a homodimeric atypical serine protease belonging to the prolyl oligopeptidase family. It is expressed on lymphocytes and upregulated during T-cell activation, as well as on activated B cells, NK cells, and epithelial tissues.

CD26 participates in:

• T-cell activation
• Cell adhesion with extracellular matrix components (fibronectin, collagens)
• HIV infection mechanisms

It is identical to adenosine deaminase complexing protein-2 and functions as a serine exopeptidase that cleaves X-proline dipeptides from the N-terminus of polypeptides. Alterations in CD26 activity are associated with malignant transformation, with increased enzymatic activity correlating with tumor grade and severity. CD26 expression changes have also been reported in monocytes and CD4+ T cells during rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
