This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD26, a 110 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein, which is a peptidase expressed on mature thymocytes, T cells (especially activated), B cells, NK cells, and macrophages.
Target Information
CD26 (dipeptidyl peptidase IV, DPP IV; adenosine deaminase binding protein) is a homodimeric atypical serine protease belonging to the prolyl oligopeptidase family.
It is expressed on lymphocytes and upregulated during T-cell activation, also found on activated B cells, NK cells, and epithelial tissues.
CD26 participates in:
- T-cell activation
- Cell adhesion with extracellular matrix (fibronectin, collagens)
- HIV infection mechanisms
It is identical to adenosine deaminase complexing protein-2 and functions as a serine exopeptidase that cleaves X-proline dipeptides from the N-terminus of polypeptides.
Altered CD26 activity is linked to malignant transformation and tumor progression. Changes in CD26 density are also observed in monocytes and CD4+ T cells during rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
