Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes a common extracellular epitope on human HLA-DR, which depends on the association of alpha and beta chains. HLA-DR is the isotype of human MHC Class II molecules expressed on antigen-presenting cells such as dendritic cells, B lymphocytes, monocytes, and macrophages.

Target Information

HLA-DR is a transmembrane glycoprotein composed of a 36 kDa alpha chain (DRA) and a 27 kDa beta chain (DRB).

• The DRA gene has 5 exons: Exon 1 encodes the leader peptide; exons 2 and 3 encode extracellular domains; exon 4 encodes the transmembrane domain and cytoplasmic tail.
• DRB1 and related alleles (DRB3, DRB4, DRB5) determine peptide-binding specificity.
• HLA-DR is expressed on antigen-presenting cells (B lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, thymic epithelial cells, activated T cells).
• MHC class II molecules bind intracellularly processed peptides and present them to T-helper cells, initiating immune responses.

HLA and MHC antibodies are essential tools in Immunopeptidomics, aiding the identification and characterization of neoantigens via LC-MS/MS.
