Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if not clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This monoclonal antibody is directed against the 6X His motif and is useful for detecting over-expressed proteins containing the 6X His epitope tag. It reacts with all His-tagged proteins tested and shows no cross-reactivity with endogenous bacterial proteins in Western blotting. Recognizes His-tag fused to either N- or C-termini of target proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
Target Information
The 6x His tag is a synthetic oligopeptide consisting of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). Commonly expressed at N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins, it enables purification by immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC). Epitope tagging allows detection of recombinant proteins even when specific antibodies are unavailable. His-tagged proteins bind selectively to metal ions such as Ni²⁺, enabling efficient purification. His tag-specific antibodies facilitate detection and co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins.
